Emma Wiersma is a printmaker and painter currently studying Studio Art and Arts Management at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, and lives just outside of Columbus, Ohio.
Her journey with art is just beginning, having only worked with graphite and acrylic before starting undergrad. Since then, she has had the opportunity to explore charcoal, digital art, sculpture, oil painting, and discovered her passion for printmaking this past year.
Emma’s art presents themes of self-examination, connection, imagination, and fantasia. She has been influenced by many different sci-fi and fantasy media and enjoys creating pieces that feel “out of this world.” Recently, she has started pulling scenes from her own dreams as inspiration for her art. Her dreams are often elaborate and lengthy with recurring themes such as opposing oppressive forces, fighting strange creatures, and conflict (often manifesting in the form of swordfight). There is a narrative element weaving throughout her dreamscape and into every piece.
She hopes you will enjoy viewing her art as it is close to her heart.
