Executive Director's Update:

Summerfair Cincinnati’s VOLUNTEERS OF THE MONTH

Summerfair Cincinnati (SFC) is chock full of enthusiastic and passionate member VOLUNTEERS! Every month, I'll be highlighting several SFC members who continue to go "above and beyond" for the good of the organization. This article will also be highlighted and archived on our website, www.summerfair.org. It’s a fun way to get to know your SFC colleagues – especially some of their personal interests!

What is a D.E.V.?

D:    ded’ i – cat’ ed adj. Devoted, faithful
E:    en-thu’ si – as’ tic adj. Intense or eager interest, zeal
V:    vol – un – teer n. one who chooses freely to do something

This month, let’s learn more about Dianne Hight, VP Special Events.

A link to prior Volunteers of the Month is shown at the bottom of the page.

Meet January 2010 D.E.V.: Dianne Hight

Dianne has been a member of Summerfair Cincinnati since 1992, when, after attending Summerfair for a number of years, she decided to join because she enjoys the arts and felt it would be a good way to be involved and also to meet people who shared her interests. In doing her part at the Fair, Dianne enjoys escorting the judges on Friday. She learns a lot about each artist’s craft from the conversations between the judge and the exhibitor. She also enjoys the pre-Fair screening (which has changed now that we are using the digital process through ZAPPlication) and also exhibitor relations during the Fair.

Dianne’s favorite “memory” as a Green Shirt happened after the Fair – a bunch of Green Shirts did Karaoke at Lebo’s. She says it was certainly “memorable” and that’s her only comment! (Hmmm…sounds like a good story!) Her favorite poster is the “Frog”.

One of our “southern” members, Dianne lives in Dayton, KY. She’s single with three grown daughters, one of whom is married with two children; Hunter and Gavin. Dianne works in Newtown at Gardner Publications, a company that publishes trade/business magazines which are circulated world-wide. She’s been with them since 1992, working in the advertising production end of the company. “Gardner Publications does everything in-house except print the magazines and are one of the few publishing companies to maintain their own mailing list.”

When not in the office, Dianne keeps busy in her garden and as the Art and Entertainment coordinator for the Vinoklet Art Festival and Wine Tasting, which takes place in September. She’s been doing that for the past 11 years. Her favorite vacation spot is anyplace sunny with a beautiful, sandy beach. Her favorite drink is a Southern Comfort Manhattan…up and she loves seafood. (I also know that she likes her hamburgers rare so that they “moo”!) Currently, she’s reading Manner of Death by Stephen White and claims that she’s still a sucker for the Bengals (hey, didn't they just nail the AFC North title?!) and the Reds.
