Executive Director's Update:

Summerfair Cincinnati’s VOLUNTEERS OF THE MONTH

Summerfair Cincinnati (SFC) is chock full of enthusiastic and passionate member VOLUNTEERS! Every month, I'll be highlighting several SFC members who continue to go "above and beyond" for the good of the organization. This article will also be highlighted and archived on our website, www.summerfair.org. It’s a fun way to get to know your SFC colleagues – especially some of their personal interests!

What is a D.E.V.?

D:    ded’ i – cat’ ed adj. Devoted, faithful
E:    en-thu’ si – as’ tic adj. Intense or eager interest, zeal
V:    vol – un – teer n. one who chooses freely to do something

Summerfair Member Cyndi Lawson is featured this month.

A link to prior Volunteers of the Month is shown at the bottom of the page.

Meet November 2009 D.E.V.: Cyndi Lawson

How many years have you been with Summerfair Cincinnati?
My first fair was 1995.

Why did you join the organization?
I am a long time collector of the Summerfair Posters and a long time patron of Summerfair. I always went over to Summerfair when I was at the pool at Coney Island.

What’s your favorite thing about being a member volunteer?
I like giving to the arts and the community and being part of the poster concept.

What Fair committee do you normally work on? Why?
Poster/t-shirts, I keep wanting to volunteer somewhere else, but always get drawn back to the poster/t-shirts.

What’s one favorite memory you have from your green shirt experience at the Fair?
I have so many memories of so many different Fairs, I have become friends with so many exhibitors from all over the United States.

What’s your favorite Summerfair poster?
2004.

Tell us a little about yourself…
I enjoy going to Sunlite Pool in the Summer and soaking up as much of the sun as I can, when the seasons change I grab my skis and head out to Colorado. When the snow melts, I plant my garden.

In what Cincinnati community do you live?
Anderson Township, I have lived here my whole life.

Kids?
I have one son and one granddaughter.

Where are you employed and what’s your role there?
Self employed.

Hobbies (besides Summerfair!)?
I like to get out and exercise as much as I can. When I am out west I love to ski all over the Rockies. I enjoy working out in my yard and garden, cooking and of course shopping.

Do you make art / crafts?
I am not artsy or crafty at all.

Where’s your favorite vacation spot?
Colorado, in the Foothills, we are at 10,000 feet elevation.

What’s your favorite drink / food?
Salmon, it’s healthy.

What’s your favorite sports team?
Cincinnati Reds, I have been going to the Reds games with my Dad since Crosley Field, although I support all my home town teams from the Bengal to the Bearcats.
