Executive Director's Update:

Summerfair Cincinnati’s VOLUNTEERS OF THE MONTH

Summerfair Cincinnati (SFC) is chock full of enthusiastic and passionate member VOLUNTEERS! Every month, I'll be highlighting several SFC members who continue to go "above and beyond" for the good of the organization. This article will also be highlighted and archived on our website, www.summerfair.org. It’s a fun way to get to know your SFC colleagues – especially some of their personal interests!

What is a D.E.V.?

D:    ded’ i – cat’ ed adj. Devoted, faithful
E:    en-thu’ si – as’ tic adj. Intense or eager interest, zeal
V:    vol – un – teer n. one who chooses freely to do something

One Summerfair Member is featured this month. It is Jayne Utter - VP of Membership.

A link to prior Volunteers of the Month is shown at the bottom of the page.

Meet March 2009 D.E.V.: Jayne Utter

If you don’t know Jayne…well, she’s that tall gal who’s been giving out prizes at our Membership meetings! Jayne’s been a member of SFC since 1989. She joined to be a part of the community and to meet new people. Her favorite thing about being a member/volunteer is the Fair.

At the Fair, Jayne makes sure that she takes enough shifts on the Exhibitor Relations committee that she can meet and get to know all the artists. And, after MANY years of tryouts, she finally became the FIRST and ONLY female member of the illustrious “Gang”…you GO GIRL!!! She "felt the guys needed direction" and she's given this vital part of the Fair it's character (and, truth be told, keeps the guys in line and on their toes!)

Her one favorite memory as a Green Shirt comes from a brainstorming session done after one Fair with the Gang where they came up with the idea of decorating t-shirts in Youth Arts. How many of you remember that?

Jayne loves all of the posters and would love to see a book published with all the images (something on my "to-do" list down the road!)

A little about Jayne in her own words: "I'm just an easy going, fun lovin'’ kinda gal who will do anything for almost anyone. That's why sales fits me so well. Family comes before all else but travel is high on my list after that."

Jayne lives in Hyde Park and works in sales at State Industrial Products. Her hobbies include "feeding her money pit of a house" (yes, for those of us who were at her home when she hosted our Holiday party – she’s done a wonderful job and the house is awesome!), she enjoys gardening and antiquing. She has a collection of things that she will use to make wonderful things with when she can get around to it.

Her favorite vacation spot is Bali and the book she’s currently reading sounds interesting; World’s Tallest Woman – the Giantess of Shelbyville High. She loves pro football and "really wants to love the Bengals."
