My feelings EXACTLY!
Since the economic melt-down, I've been reading articles on how/where we "should" be investing our money, so when I came across this full-page advertorial in the latest "Antiques and Fine Art" magazine (12th Anniversary 2012 issue. pg. 63), I just had to share! (My commentary is shown w/in [ ])
[If it's not apparent yet to those of you who read this blog, I am a passionate (American) Folk Art collector (both historic/antique and contemporary including outsider and self-taught) and historian; I inhale any and all magazines and books, websites and FB pages on the subject.]
Kelly Kinzle Antiques: "The uncertainty of the last few years undoubtedly has caused most of us who love antiques [and art] to question the decisions we have made in the past and forced us to reexamine our plans for the future. As I walk through my gallery [my home] and assess my inventory, I can say unequivocally that buying, owning, and handling these pieces has given me far more pleasure than money sitting idly in a low-return bank account.
I would much rather wake up at three in the morning and admire a painting or a painted chest - for which I paid a record price - than wonder how the Asian markets are doing. Currently, most of us are forced out of the conventional safe havens of banking and solid income-producing assets and forced to play the market. I do not want my daily mood to rely on Europe sneezing [or nasty political arguments between the current President and Congress / Republicans; no matter what my political leanings]. That is why I buy antiques [art].
They (antiques) [art] make me happy to see and to touch and to own."
I wonder if you, dear reader, can understand and perhaps relate to, the feelings so well put by Kelly Kinzle and to which I so fervently agree!
